HuopanaThe village is situated on the scenic Blue Road (main road 77) amid the beautiful Huopanankoski rapids. The village, together with its fishing grounds, have been immortalised in the writings of the well-known novelist and fishing enthusiast Juhani Aho (1861-1921). Huopana offers first-rate fishing and outdoor recreation throughout the year. |

Ilmolahti
Ilmolahti lies south of Viitasaari on the shore of Lake Keitele. The village has strong hunting and fishing traditions and is an extremely popular place to live due its close proximity to the centre of Viitasaari. |

Keihärinkoski
Keihärinkoski is located on the Keihärinkoskentie road (6544). The lively village has some excellent fishing rapids, a village shop, kiosk, fishing harbour and an observation tower. |

Keitelepohja
The village of Keitelepohja is situated by the road leading to Kinnula, on the shore of the Lake Keitele. The village has a school, swimming beach and excellent facilities for cross-country skiing and other outdoor pursuits. |

Kolkku
The village of Kolkku lies in the north-eastern corner of the municipality of Viitasaari and is bordered to the north by Pihtipudas and to the east by Lake Keitele. The village is set in a beautiful peatland area next to its own lake –Lake Kolkkujärvi. |

Kotvala-Valkeisjärvi
Kotvala-Valkeisjärvi village is located on the Viitasaari road (775). The village’s prime hunting and fishing grounds are a four-season paradise for hiking, hunting and fishing enthusiasts. The lively Village Association is active in arranging events and activities in the community. |

Kumpumäki
The village of Kumpumäki is located in the north-eastern part of Viitasaari amid a diverse and varying natural landscape. The Heinäsuvanto lake and mire areas are prized by bird-watchers and nature enthusiasts as a unique habitat for migratory birds. The Kärnänkoski rapids offer some great fishing spots and are also home to the village’s hydroelectric plant museum. |

Kymönkoski
Kymönkoski ranks among the best fly fishing spots in Finland. The village services include a school, village shop and a youth association club house which hosts many of the village’s social and cultural events. The "Karoliinan portaat" (Karoliina's stairway) natural flight of stone steps is one of Viitasaari’s most impressive nature attractions. In winter, an ice road across the frozen lake provides a shortcut to the centre of Viitasaari. |

Löytänä
The village of Löytänä lies just off the E75 (E4) motorway on the border with the municipality of Pihtipudas. The village’s active community plays host to several cultural and outdoor events throughout the year. |

Niinilahti
The lakeside village of Niinilahti is situated south of Viitasaari town, just off the E75 (E4) motorway on the shore of Lake Keitele. In addition to its impressive lakeland scenery, Niinilahti boasts some outstanding hiking and fishing grounds. The village has a school and grill kiosk and is well connected both by road and by lake. |

Pasala-Viitakangas
The villages of Pasala and Viitakangas lie to the east of Viitasaari on the Blue Road (main road 77). Pasala village is set in a unique cultural heritage landscape, and the Kolimajärvi Lake is an excellent spot for watersports and fishing. Pasala’s village shop is open to villagers, summer residents and other holidaymakers throughout the year. |

Soliskylä
Soliskylä lies on the Blue Road on the shore of Lake Keitele and just a short distance from the centre of Viitasaari. The area around the old village school building includes a swimming beach, boat moorings and other leisure facilities. |

Suovanlahti-Haarala
The villages of Suovanlahti and Haarala are located east of Viitasaari on the border with the municipality of Vesanto. The area is predominantly agricultural, although Suovanlahti is also known in particular for its cultural events. The villages’ main services include the Farmers’ Society hall, the old mill and mill café and village shop. |

Vuorilahti is located on the Vuorilahti road, just off the Blue Road route. The village is set on the shore of beautiful Lake Vuosjärvi, a superb fishing area. The village is active in hosting a variety of events and activities for all ages throughout the year. |
